Dog and Bear: What Next?

April 7, 2020

Dog and Bear doing their homework

“I don’t think Mom was too happy with all that noise we were making,” said Bear.

“That’s for sure,” replied Dog.  “But, she said she was glad we were trying to help.”

Dog and Bear were perplexed.

Bear summed it up perfectly.  “I just don’t get it.  Mom wants us to help.  But, she doesn’t like all the noise, she doesn’t want us to have fun, she doesn’t want us to jump around, she doesn’t want…”

Dog interrupted with his frustration.  “Yeah.  She seems to think all we do is make messes and make disasters.  She didn’t hardly notice I put 5 plates on the top shelf before I fell.”

“And she didn’t even ask if you were OK.  You could have really been hurt when you fell.”  Bear sympathized and Dog was happy.

Dog and Bear could sometimes argue and get upset with each other.  They sometimes had trouble sharing.  But, they were brothers and best friends.  They were a TEAM.

“I think we need to find some ideas that are quiet,” said Dog.

“Yeah, ideas that Mom would like.  And ideas that are fun.”

“And stuff that is easy to do.”

Dog and Bear scoured the internet through and through.  They first zeroed in on ideas that were “fun” and “easy.”  But, there was a major complication to this search.  Mom would need to like it.  So, it should come as no surprise – they weren’t finding much.  They knew the internet had the answer for just about anything.  They just had to keep looking…

Dog said, “let’s look on Youtube.  I bet there’s lots of ideas on Youtube.”

Bear, in a rare sign of maturity, differed.  “We better not get on Youtube.  Or Facebook.  We’ll get sidetracked and start watchin’ crazy stuff… and we need to find something Mom will like.”

Dog decided Bear was right and it was time for a confession.  “You know… Mom got upset and all… with me acting silly… I suppose I was getting a little bit too careless.  I should probably be more careful when putting away dishes.”

Bear said, “We’ll do better next time.  Let’s keep lookin’.”

They were on a quest.  A quest for the great idea.  Then, all of a sudden…

“I know, I know, I know!!!!  This is the MOST PERFECT IDEA EVER!!!  Let’s …”

(The adventure continues)

Enjoying the adventures of bear and dog. If I remember correctly, those 2 have been locked in a trunk for years. If I would have known the duo could spread so much joy to all of us I would have gotten them out long ago!

The caption where it says Bear likes the mouse is funny! I hope these two aren’t trouble makers in the next post! What if they get in trouble by going on Youtube and their mom catches them? I’m not supposed to be on Youtube by myself!!

Thanks for the comment. Dog and Bear want to do the right thing. Sometimes they get sidetracked and get into trouble. But, they are always trying to figure out what they can do to be helpful. The idea of going on the internet (Youtube, Facebook, and other places) is not always wise. Sometimes there are bad things that people put out there. It is a good idea to have a parent help you find things on the internet. Thanks again for reading the Adventures of Dog and Bear.

I like the fact that you keep making posts so often! That means you don’t have to wait too long for all the cliffhanger. We like the idea of doing a story. We might start one as part of our blog too! I really like the part where they were being honest and thinking about the mistakes they have made. That’s what a real person would do. They would learn and make better decisions. I wonder if the Llama aunt will come back into the story.

Thanks for your thoughts. The story will continue with ups and downs. Dog and Bear really do want to be helpful and do the right thing – sometimes they just forget to stay focused. Aunt Lucy the Llama will probably visit them again. She really cares about Dog and Bear and is a good listener. Stay tuned…

    Dear Papa,
I love the story so much! I think that it would be really cool if you put a picture of Dog and Bears Mom in the story so we can see what she looks like! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Thanks. I’m glad you like the story. You picked up on something that I do with the story. Little by little, you find out more about the story and the characters… but you always have to wait to learn more. The most recent post showed Mom. She is a Camel. Her sister, Lucy, is a Llama. Mom’s to kids are Dog and Bear. I hope you keep reading and asking questions. And I really hope you like the family of Dog and Bear.
