New Jersey – The Garden State

July 18, 2013

New Jersey – what do you think of when you here someone talking about this state?  Maybe you think of the shore and Atlantic City, the gambling mecca on the East coast.  Or maybe you think of Trenton, the city on the way to Philadelphia.  Or Newark and the difficulties an aging industrial city faces.  Or maybe you think of crime and the mob.  After all, some say that Jimmy Hoffa is buried in New Jersey…

What about flowers??

New Jersey is the Garden State and I offer some photos to show that Jersey stacks up in the flower category.  These photos come from Verona Park, a colorful escape in Essex County.  The park is one of many lush green spaces found in New Jersey.  These green spaces offer a wonderful escape from traffic and noise.

We have all heard the expression “Take time to stop and smell the flowers” or something similar.  It is true, we should take the time.  Even when life is a bit crazy, a refuge is somewhere near.  A quiet sanctuary beckons.  Even in New Jersey.

Very nice flowers. I like the colors and the contrast of sharpness and softness.

Thank you for the kind words. The flowers were truly beautiful and I hope the photos show at least some of the rich color. The photos are a nice reminder that spring will soon be here.
